La Varenne
For the fall of 2007, La Varenne is offering a new five-day The Country Cooking of France program and three-day Taste of Burgundy programs. The Country Cooking of France is the live version of my upcoming book on the glories of the French countryside. During our 5-day class, we will focus on the dishes of Burgundy, Provence, Brittany and the Southwest so you will have an insider’s glimpse of these provinces renowned for their good eating.
Our 3-day Taste of Burgundy class will pinpoint the charming region that surrounds Chateau du Fey. These two programs are unique to the region, enabling you to visit this delightful area of France to savor outstanding restaurants (from one to three stars, as rated by Michelin) and enjoy guided excursions as well as special tastings of fine wines and cheeses. At the same time, you can enjoy the special experience of staying in La Varenne’s historic property, Château du Feÿ, with its lovely accommodations, swimming pool and tennis court in a beautiful setting 95 miles south of Paris.
All our programs are limited to twelve people, so that we can get to know you personally. You will also meet our Franco-American staff and associates. The atmosphere is serious and the schedule quite full - in the time available, we would like you to learn as much as possible about French cooking techniques and ingredients, as well as something about our local wines (notably Chablis) and the dining style of fine restaurants here in Burgundy.
