"Taste of Tuscany"

The Villa Marzalla is a seventeenth century Tuscan estate perched in the hills above the village of Pescia, approximately 50 km. west of Florence and 12 km. east of Lucca. Taking advantage of this convenient and picturesque location, the owners of Marzalla were among the first in this area to participate in the "Agritourismo" movement sponsored by the Italian government.

Through agritourism, as it has become known, Taste of Tuscany offers participants the opportunity to stay in an historic estate. The Azienda Agricola Marzalla, The Villa Marzalla's official name, is a family run business and a working farm. Marzalla produces the two famous staples of Tuscan life, wine and olives, which provide a lovely landscape and the opportunity for guests to wander down farm lanes among the vines or pause beneath ancient olive trees.

Guests will be housed in the comfortable suites of the estate's fully restored buildings. Each suite consists of two large double bedrooms, a full bath, an ample sitting room, and a fully equipped kitchen. A lovely garden leads to an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Meals will be served in the Villa Marzalla restaurant, in yet another of the restored buildings. Dominating the landscape of the estate is the large, noble villa, which has been the padronal home of the current owners' family since the seventeenth century. A smaller sixteenth century villa down the hill completes the setting. All of these facilities are a short walk from one another, and are set against the backdrop of the rolling foothills of the Apennine.
