Imagine a famous chef inviting you to her stunning Carmel home to observe, and try your hand in her kitchen. Imagine making a gourmet feast and then sharing it with her and her other guests. Imagine watching her and having her share her kitchen secrets with you. Well, dream no more! Chef Wendy invites you to participate in her cooking experiences. Much more than a cooking class, this intimate encounter will reverberate in your psyche and on your palate.
Celebrated California Artist/Chef Wendy Brodie is known for her creative style with food, presentation and table decor. In fact, she is often described as an artist whose medium is food. With her husband, Bob Bussinger, CHA, Brodie was co-owner of Lincoln Court Restaurant in Carmel, which had become a very popular local restaurant, which generated outstanding reviews.
Chef Wendy has cooked for and with numerous celebrity chefs including Julia Child, Jacques Pepin, Roy Yamaguchi, Paul Prudhomme and Martha Stewart. She has also been a guest chef at the Master’s of Food and Wine in Carmel and the Monterey Wine Festival. She is one of the featured chefs in the Masters of Food and Wine cookbook.
There is a minimum charge of 6 people for a class and up to 20 if desired. We meet at Zenwood, our home with a demonstration kitchen, in the Carmel Highlands, usually around 10:30 AM (however, this can be adjusted). There is about 1/2 hour of meet-and-greet with mimosa, champagne, wine or coffee then into the kitchen. The hands-on and demonstration classes last about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and can be structured around your interests. Then it’s on to the luncheon table for the three courses you just created.
Also, don’t miss Wendy’s 2008 France cooking excursion. Travel to Perigord, France (3-hours from Paris), stay, and cook in an 18th century country house with celebrated Artist-Chef Wendy Brodie. Join a group of only 10 people with Wendy and her husband Bob Bussinger. There will be 8 days and 7 nights of culinary adventures, including cooking classes with Wendy, outings to discover the markets, vineyards, fermes-auberges and the celebrated restaurants of Perigord.
