Cooking with Georgia + Dez

When you cook together, you share a part of yourself. And since I am Greek, I want to share as much as possible. This is how we are. I come from a small town, Amaliada, in Peloponnese in the sunny south of Greece . This area is part of the mainland but separated from it by the Gulf of Corinth . Just a tiny isthmus attaches it to the rest of Greece, so its residents tend to stay there and grow up together as an entire community. Life there is hospitable, friendly, beautiful, bountiful and warm in every way. The Greek people love to share that warmth by cooking and eating with loved ones. I came to America just a young girl without knowing a word of English. And now, I am able to share my love of food and family with thousands of people of every nationality.

In the Old Country, we used lots of butter and oil, and spent hours preparing meals. But Americans – and I am one now – are busy and health conscious. I want my recipes to help them prepare easy and nutritious meals that fit their lifestyle. My recipes are the best of both worlds – Greek with an American twist, just like me!

I am a graduate of the prestigious Culinary School of Athens, have been a successful restaurateur, cooking show host and author of three cookbooks (with another one in the works). I have made numerous TV and radio appearances, been featured in many national and local newspapers and taught cooking classes. And you know what makes me the happiest? Cooking and eating with family and friends! So, welcome to my family!

The kitchen happens to be our favorite place in the house. Our Kitchen is all about making cooking convenient and fun. When Dez and I get in the kitchen we're always tuning to our favorite music, cooking, and dancing and most importantly, having lots of fun. We believe all it comes down to is having tons of fun. I truly feel cooking should be about enjoyment and shared with those you love. It doesn't matter what your cooking level is or how big your kitchen.
