This grand three story mansion was built by lumber baron John O'Brien in 1882, when lumber was big and the logging industry flourished. Perched high upon historic Chestnut Hill, overlooking picturesque Stillwater and the St. Croix River Valley, the Rivertown Inn is a step back to the Victorian splendor of the nineteenth century.

Owners Julie and Jeff Anderson have completely and lovingly restored and lavishly furnished the entire Inn with gasolier light fixtures, hardwood parquet floors, plush hand woven oriental rugs, leaded glass doors, arched stained glass windows, eleven fireplaces set in period mantels, a mahogany grand piano, and gothic European furnishings throughout.

Chef Ray Wyatt was born and raised in Hastings, England. There he attended culinary school at the age of 15, after which he worked in various four-star hotels in England. At 19, Chef Ray moved to Denmark where he discovered true culinary art. In all, he spent six years in Denmark learning fine cuisine and the Danish language. In 1999, Chef Ray left Denmark for Australia where he spent one year working and traveling.

In 2001, Chef Ray moved to Minnesota to be with his wife, and has made Minnesota his new home. Chef Ray is excited to make the Rivertown Inn the new chapter in his culinary journey and looks forward to cooking for you. Chef Ray's cuisine can be described as French classic with Mediterranean influence.

We are absolutely thrilled to have Ray Wyatt on board preparing sumptuous three-course breakfasts for guests and offering special event fine dining. He is a master chef whose culinary artistry is both inventive and flavorful.

Our fun and informative 3-hour classes feature hands-on instruction, plenty of food and wine samplings, and a take-home recipe booklet of the day’s menu.
