Your time in Naples by the sea will be filled with exciting excursions to Pompeii, boating along the Sorrento Coast with a visit to the Isle of Capri, tour of Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum Historical Tour, a guided tour of Naples where you can shop and explore the City’s highlights. There are multiple hands-on cooking classes featuring the best of Italian cuisine while taking in the beautiful views of the sea. Day 1
Naples Airport or Train Station Transfers to the Hotel
Your driver will meet you at the Naples Airport or Train Station for your short drive along the coast to your hotel located in Ercolano (just outside historic Herculaneum). There will be light refreshments provided to begin your holiday. The hotel is located only 35 minutes from the airport. (Transportation from Rome Airport can be arranged at an additional charge if required)
Sunset Welcome Dinner with Wine
Meet your hotel contact and review the week’s exciting schedule as you sip your exotic welcome drink. This evening you will enjoy a four-course dinner with wine in the hotels fine restaurant overlooking the breathtaking sea views of the Gulf of Naples. La Terrazza specializes in fresh seafood prepared in the classic Neapolitan style infused with unforgettable flavor.
Day 2
Italian Breakfast Buffet
Your day starts with a delicious Italian continental breakfast served buffet style on the terrace overlooking the sea. It includes breakfast sandwiches, chef's homemade desserts, cereal, yogurt, juices, salami, ham, assortment of cheeses, eggs, jams, honey, croissants and fresh fruit of the season.
Neapolitan Hands-On Cooking Class | Pastry Lesson | Lunch with Wine
Cooking with a view! Each day the backdrop of your cooking class will be an unforgettable view of the Gulf of Naples. Your cooking experience begins with Crocchè – delicious potato croquette antipasto originating from Naples. Th preparation of the pizza dough will begin for the next cooking class, giving it time rise. A very special traditional Neapolitan Sauce (Ragu Napoletano) is on the menu. The sauce is made with a combination of meats, a soffritto (onion, celery and carrot), meat and tomato sauce, red wine, basil and olive oil. Rum Baba – traditional Italian dessert from Naples is a small yeast cake saturated in syrup made with Rum and filled with whipped cream or pastry cream. A three-course lunch will be served with wine following the cooking class.
Herculaneum Historical Tour | Dinner at La Terrazza
Enjoy a stunning walk through the ruins of Herculaneum, offering a unique opportunity to rediscover the last moments of life in this city affected by the volcanic eruption of 79 A.D. Admire the panorama that has inspired artists from around the world. Embrace the pure vitality of the volcano, which will show you its slow and dark breath through the fumes coming from rocks surrounding the path. Dinner will be back at the hotel this evening.
Day 3

Your day starts with a delicious Italian continental breakfast served buffet style on the terrace overlooking the sea. It includes breakfast sandwiches, chef's homemade desserts, cereal, yogurt, juices, salami, ham, assortment of cheeses, eggs, jams, honey, croissants and fresh fruit of the season.
Sorrento Coast and Capri Experience | Lunch on the Water | Dinner on The Terrace
Board your boat to begin an idyllic cruise from the hotel to the stunning and charming town of Sorrento. Capture one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and enjoy splendid panoramic views of the endless coastline. The best way to see the northern tip of the Amalfi Coast is from your “front row” seat on the boat! Lunch will be provided on board as you depart for Capri. While on Capri, freely explore and discover this magical island for approximately three hours. Walk aimlessly through the alleyways, reliving ancient times, or take a hike to Monte Solaro. You will then take a boat trip around the island to see the famous Faraglioni, fascinating caves and grottos where you will have several opportunities to swim and snorkel. Upon arriving back at the hotel enjoy cocktails and dinner on the terrace.
Day 4

Guided Mount Vesuvius Excursion
Today, an early departure from the hotel to the crater of Mount Vesuvius is scheduled. This is the only active volcano on mainland Europe, which rises majestically above the Bay of Naples. Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in 79 A.D. that led to the burning and destruction of the Roman Cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. The view is definitely one you’ll remember, so don’t forget your camera.
Pasta and Seafood Cooking Class | Lunch with Wine | Free Afternoon | Dinner on the Terrace
This cooking class consists of Italian specialties such as Fritters algae – a delicious, fried antipasti treat. Both the pizza and pasta will use the Neapolitan sauce (Ragu Napolitano) that was made during your previous class. The chef will select locally sourced seafood to complement the experience. Torta Caprese is the typical chocolate and almond cake from the Isle of Capri that uses no flour…so it is gluten free. You will see this cake in all the pastry shops! The cooking class with be followed by a three-course lunch and wine. The remainder of the day can be spent at your leisure, or you can arrange some additional sightseeing with help from the hotel staff. Sunset cocktails and dinner will be served on the terrace.
Day 5

Guided Discovery Tour of Naples | Pizza Lunch | Sunset Dinner Overlooking the Harbor
Today you will enjoy a guided tour of Italy’s third largest city. Naples is one of country’s oldest, most artistic and most appetizing. Pack your camera, and prepare to explore the mysteries of this fascinating and legendary city. Led by a knowledgeable and professional guide, you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Naples Historic Center, cross famous streets and pass by the main churches and castles. This tour is based on a leisurely walking pace, allowing time for shopping and experiencing Naples as a local. At lunch, enjoy a delicious Neapolitan pizza, and visit the city’s highlights in the afternoon. One of the most beautiful sunsets to be seen is overlooking the Harbor back at the hotel, where you’ll enjoy cocktails and dinner.
Day 6

Fresh Pasta and Gnocchi Cooking Class
This cooking class consists of Italian specialties, such as Gnocchi pasta and arancini di riso (rice balls) - a deliciously fried treat. The chef will select fresh clams to compliment the dishes you helped prepare. For dessert, you will enjoy Fritte Zeppole, an Italian pastry consisting of deep-fried dough balls of varying sizes. The cooking class will be followed by a four-course lunch with wine.
Pompeii Guided Excursion | Dinner at La Terrazza
Pompeii is one of the most significant archaeological sites in Italy, and like an open book, it provides outstanding historical information on art, customs, trades and everyday life in 79 A.D. The city is precisely as it would have been when it was unexpectedly buried in a thick layer of ash from the devastating eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The preserved city features many excavated ruins that you can explore freely. There will be some relaxing time back at the hotel prior to sunset cocktails and your farewell dinner.
Day 7

Check-Out and Departure
Time flies when you’re having so much fun, but alas…it is time to check out and depart this delicious, “Edible Destination.” Remember, short excursion packages are often available in nearby cities or historic destinations. Should you desire an extension, please let your culinary travel specialist know prior to check-in. Early in the morning on your departure day, you and your newly acquired friends will be transferred back to the Naples Airport or Train Station. You may also be transferred back to Rome for an additional charge should you desire.

We had no idea what to expect when we booked our trip with edible destinations to Naples, but all I can say after experiencing one of the best vacations we have ever had, is sign us up for the next city! We love adventure, and good food, and needed a relaxing trip away from our busy kids and every single detail was carefully taken care of so we could just relax. We got to see so much of the surrounding city, incredible tours, (Capri is how I imagine my heaven will look!), and the food was incredible. We felt like our waiters and chefs were family by the end of the week. All rides, transfers, and tickets were taken care of and there were no language barriers at all. We adored our cooking classes, and still make pizza every Sunday at home now! This was such a great way to easily travel without any worries. Come hungry and stressed, and you’ll leave completely relaxed with a belly full of the best food in the world! Thank you for an unforgettable trip.
